25 years ago, Flowserve became incorporated as a public company on the New York Stock Exchange built on the legacy of our pioneering companies and people who together, create and deliver extraordinary flow control solutions that make the world better for everyone.

Thomas Simpson Founds Simpson & Thompson

Flowserve's legacy begins when Thomas Simpson founds Simpson & Thompson. His sons eventually take over to found James Simpson & Co., which later becomes Worthington Pump Co.

NAF Foundry

1901

NAF Foundry Is Built

The NAF Foundry in Lund, Sweden, is built to make valve parts in cast iron and brass. Flowserve later acquired NAF in 2002, expanding its reach into pulp and paper.

Duriron Castings Company

1916

Duriron Castings Company Introduces Duriron

The Duriron Castings Company unveils Duriron, a highly corrosion-resistant high-silicon iron alloy. The company renamed as Durco in 1997 and was instrumental in Flowserve’s creation.

Durametallic Corp. Factory

1950

Durametallic Corp. Manufactures Mechanical Seals

Mechanical seals are manufactured at Durametallic Corporation in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Durametallic was later acquired by Duriron in January 1996.

Flowserve purchases Ingersoll-Dresser Pumps, a business unit of Ingersoll-Rand Co., for $775 million, creating the world’s second largest pump company.
